International Careers
Some ideas know no borders. Discount retailing is one of them. With excellent customer service, convenience, and affordable pricing, Wal-Mart has been delivering new possibilities in retailing to markets across the world since we opened our first international store in Mexico City in 1991.
In the global economy, successful business is going to do just what Wal-Mart is always trying to do: give more and more responsibility for making decisions to the people who are actually on the firing line, those who deal with the customers every day.
- Sam Walton
Today, we have 3,148 retail units abroad and more than 620,000 associates who are proud to call Wal-Mart their employer. We’ve experienced rapid growth internationally, and we foresee even greater potential in other markets.
Our focus remains the same for our International business as it is for our U.S. operations— to save people money so they can live better. To do this, we work hard to ensure that our stores are partners in the communities they serve. Through the products we offer and the service we provide, we have been welcomed into countries all over the globe.
