Finance Intern - Adrienne, Undergraduate
At 11:30 a.m. all of the interns in the Home Office meet for lunch in the cafeteria. We learn about each other’s projects and talk about our plans for the week. I have made great friends here in such a short time; we always have something fun planned after we get off work. Following lunch I continue to make progress on my projects. I’ve been trusted to make my own decisions and to do the projects in my own way, but I also work with a great team that is willing to answer my questions and help me out whenever I need it. My supervisor is always there when I want to discuss my progress or a new idea. When I finish my projects I get to present them to my department’s vice president. My internship with Walmart has given me the opportunity to interact with people from all different areas of the company and, more importantly, to make an impact on people’s lives around the world. |

Every day I come in to work at 8 a.m. I check with my supervisor to get any updates I need on my project, then I begin working. I am in charge of analyzing the Investor Relations Web site, which including reorganizing the site’s contact information to communicate more effectively with shareholders and analysts and putting together new student and investor packets. In the morning I gather information from inside the company, so I usually have a list of people from other departments that I need to call, e-mail or meet. A few times a week my supervisor will ask me to sit in on a meeting with him. I love attending meetings, because I get to meet new people and learn about other projects going on within the company.
