The Walmart Foundation strives to provide opportunities that improve the lives of individuals in our communities including our customers and associates. Through financial contributions, in-kind donations and volunteerism, the Walmart Foundation supports initiatives focused on enhancing opportunities in our four main focus areas:
The Walmart Foundation has a particular interest in supporting the following populations: veterans and military families, traditionally underserved groups, individuals with disabilities and people impacted by natural disasters.
In all of our giving efforts, we strive to meet the unmet needs of underserved populations and support organizations that give individuals access to a better life. We believe in operating globally and giving back locally. We encourage our associates to support programs that make a positive difference in their communities through volunteer efforts and financial contributions. We involve our associates in determining how Walmart Foundation dollars are used to support causes that are important to them.
Feeding America
Walmart is partnering with Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief charity, and enlisting its entire network of Supercenters, Neighborhood Markets and Sam’s Club locations to help those in need.
Walmart Foundation Donates $750,000 to Meals On Wheels
As a part of our recent initiative to reduce U.S. hunger, the Walmart Foundation wanted to make sure that our nation’s hungry seniors were included in our efforts. We partnered with the Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA), the nation’s oldest and largest charitable food services organization.
Feeding Hungry Children and Families
Now, more Americans than ever are relying on hunger relief organizations. To meet this increased demand, the Walmart Foundation has donated $7.8 million to support food banks and provide healthy summer meals to children and families.
Walmart Foundation's Job Training Initiative
The Walmart Foundation has stepped up with an initiative aimed at providing job skill training to those hit hardest by the economic downturn. This year alone, we awarded more than $6.5 million in grants to programs designed to help train displaced workers and prepare them for the next chapter in their careers.
