Missing Children's Network
In 1996, we teamed up with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® (NCMEC) to form the Missing Children's Network. NCMEC is a private, non-profit organization that works under a Congressional mandate in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Justice.
Putting Them on Display
Through our Missing Children's Network, every Walmart store, Neighborhood Market and Sam's Club in the United States displays a bulletin board with posters and identifying information of missing children. Those children are also featured on our Walmart Television Network. Customers with leads or helpful information can call the toll-free NCMEC hotline (1-800-THE-LOST).
Our Bulletin Boards and Television Network Reach Millions of People
Between January 1996 and January 2008, we have featured 9,767 on our boards. As of January 2008, 8,042 of those children have been recovered and 193 of those recovered children were found as a direct result of our bulletin boards.
Just One Look Can Bring a Child Home
The next time you're in one of our stores or clubs, please take a moment to look at the Missing Children's board, or visit the NSMEC Web site. If you recognize a child call: 1-800-THE-LOST.
