At the Walmart Foundation, we believe that our servicemen and women have one of the most difficult and important jobs in the world. In an ongoing effort to recognize the service and sacrifice of our military personnel and their families, we support organizations nationwide that are working hard to create opportunities and provide services for the military community.
Locally, associates at Walmart stores, Sam’s Clubs and distribution centers take the lead on many projects designed specifically for their neighborhoods ranging from adopting families whose loved ones are deployed to honoring local heroes on Walls of Honor inside Walmart stores and Sam’s Clubs in the weeks leading up to Veterans’ Day.

American heroes rest in National Cemeteries across the country. To remember and honor these veterans in a special way, we teamed up with a nonprofit organization called Wreaths Across America during the holidays.
Walmart Foundation Helps National Heroes Earn College Degrees
In celebration of Veterans Day 2008, the Walmart Foundation donated a total of $3.6 million to help the people who serve our country pursue higher education. Grants were awarded to 12 organizations whose programs help veterans get access to education, afford college, adjust to civilian life and successfully graduate.
Fisher House
As a sign of our continued support to military personnel and their families, the Walmart Foundation has adopted 36 U.S.-based Fisher Houses for “Operation: Deck the Walls.”
