Localized Efforts
Through strong relationships with government officials and immediate responders such as the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army, we are able to attain vital information on what the immediate needs are following a disaster. This allows us to respond by transporting and donating lifesaving supplies with the speed and efficiency relied on by governments and relief organizations alike. In addition to the donations of product provided by Walmart to help meet immediate needs, the Walmart Foundation also provides funding through grants to local chapters of emergency services providers. These grants are pivotal to assisting a community’s recovery and rebuilding efforts. When disasters reach the point where relief efforts exceed the local level of response, we expand our community-based approach to continue to provide assistance. Our local facilities work with emergency service providers to coordinate a national response by transporting specific products to the areas with the greatest need.
