Committed to the “Red Kettle Campaign”Red kettles and jingle bells symbolize the holiday season and helping those in need. For more than 20 years, Walmart has shown its support for the Salvation Army by raising funds in front of Walmart stores and Sam's Clubs nationwide. Donations to the “Red Kettle Campaign” are used by the Salvation Army to help people in need across the country. 2007 was a record year for The Salvation ArmyThe Salvation Army collected a record $30 million in front of Walmart stores and Sam’s Club locations in 2007 – the most ever raised by any Salvation Army partner. These contributions provided much-needed food, shelter, clothing and financial assistance to 35 million people. Giving off to an early start in 2008On Black Friday, bell ringers collected donations in front of 4,200 Walmart stores, Sam’s Club locations and Neighborhood Markets across the country. Prior to that, the Walmart Foundation announced a $1.25 million donation to the Salvation Army and hosted a national “day of giving” when bell ringers collected donations before the start of the holiday season.
