Feeding America

Hear from grandfathers, children and friends on how Feeding America has helped them.

At a time when more and more families are struggling to put food on the table, Walmart is partnering with Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief charity, and enlisting its entire network of Supercenters, Neighborhood Markets and Sam’s Club locations to help those in need through a nationwide food donation program.

Over 127 million pounds of food

In our fiscal year ending in 2010, our Walmart stores and Sam’s Club locations have already donated more than 127 million pounds of food -- the equivalent of nearly 100 million meals – to families in need.

We are honored to be the 2010 Feeding America Donor of the Year and the first Feeding America donor to provide more than 100-million pounds of food in one calendar year.

By giving nutritious produce, meat and other groceries, we’ve become Feeding America’s largest food donor.

35 refrigerated trucks donated

Also in 2009, the Walmart Foundation recently donated 35 refrigerated trucks filled with Great Value-branded products and fresh apples to Feeding America food banks in Miami, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Boston, Memphis and 30 other communities.

Feeding America estimates that these refrigerated trucks will enable the food banks to transport up to 52.5 million pounds of food, the equivalent of 41 million additional meals, per year.

These donations are another way we can carry out our promise, help people live better, especially in these unprecedented times of need.
