Walmart Store and Sam's Club Giving Program Guidelines
Eligibility Requirements:The following organizations are eligible to seek funding from the Walmart Store and Sam’s Club Giving Programs: - Organizations with current tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3), (4), (6), or (19) of the Internal Revenue Code and must be listed in the most current IRS 50 State Master File at the time of application.
- Recognized government entities: State, County and City agencies, including law enforcement and fire departments.
- Volunteer Fire Departments with current tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; or that operate as an entity of a recognized government agency, as demonstrated by primary funding and documented by a letter from that agency.
- K-12 Public Schools/Districts, Charter Schools, Community/Junior Colleges, State Colleges and Universities.
- Private schools and colleges with current tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
- Churches and other faith based organizations with propose projects that address and benefit the needs of the community at large. Examples of such projects include:
- Food Banks
- Shelters
- Job Skills Training
Funding Exclusions:Funding requests for any type of initiative included in the list below are ineligible to receive funding through the Walmart Store and Sam’s Club Giving Programs. - American Cancer Society
- American Diabetes Association
- American Heart Association
- Children’s Miracle Network
- United Way
- Contests or pageants
- Political causes, candidates, organizations or campaigns
- Advertising, film or video projects
- Program advertising or marketing venues
- Individuals
- Athletic sponsorships
- Tickets for contests, raffles, or other activities with prizes
- Capital campaigns and endowments
- Association memberships
- Organizations whose services are limited to its members
- Projects that send products or people for relief efforts to a foreign country
- Organizations or programs outside the communities we serve or outside the U.S.
- Institutions that by virtue of their charters, programs, or policies serve a small or restricted segment of the community.
- Organizations that fax, phone (telemarket), or mail applications to our stores or clubs.
- Organizations or fundraisers that intend to retain more than 25% of the grant funding.
- Churches and other faith-based organizations to purchase real estate, equipment, or supplies; or sponsor programs or projects, to benefit only the organization or its members. Examples of such projects include:
- Youth groups
- Mission trips
- Sunday school supplies
Application Process:Organizations that meet the eligibility requirements for these programs can request an application at their local Walmart Store or Sam’s Club. Applications for the Walmart Store and Sam’s Club Giving Programs are accepted Feb. 1 through Dec. 31. Grant AwardsMinimum grant award is $250 Maximum grant awards depend on the budget of the facility to which you are applying Limit: One grant per year per organization Application and Award ProcessingApplications must be completed in full and turned into the Facility Manager or Community Involvement Coordinator Applications that are faxed or mailed in will not be considered Local representation of the organization must have presence in the community we serve Walmart Foundation has final approval Availability of funds is limited
