Walmart Foundation and Associates Honor Late Veterans with Wreaths

We teamed up with Wreaths Across America, a nonprofit organization, during the holidays.

American heroes rest in National Cemeteries across the country. To remember and honor these veterans in a special way, we teamed up with a nonprofit organization called Wreaths Across America during the holidays.

In December 2008, Walmart truck drivers delivered six trailer loads of wreaths to cemeteries across the country, including two to the Fayetteville, Ark., National Cemetery near our company’s headquarters. All 6,300 gravesites there received a wreath. Our Associates raised $15,000 for the effort; the Walmart Foundation donated an additional $75,000.

Wreaths Across America began in 1992 with a tradition of placing wreaths on headstones in Arlington National Cemetery. Since then, the nonprofit has partnered with volunteers and organizations to place more than 100,000 wreaths in more than 350 locations across the U.S.
