Helping to relocate missing children is a longstanding tradition that brings much pride to our associates. At Walmart, we believe in supporting families in need. Families and care givers who are faced with the uncertainty of a missing child are truly families in need and we are proud to do what we can to help bring their children back safely.
When a child goes missing in a Walmart store or Sam’s Club, we utilize a special alert system called Code Adam. Through a relationship with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Code Adam program has been shared with other companies and is used in stores and facilities all over the country to help protect our children.
We also support the important efforts of The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children by placing missing children’s photos in Walmart stores, Neighborhood Markets and Sam’s Clubs throughout the nation. As of January 2008, more than 193 children have been safely recovered as a direct result of their photo being seen at one of our stores or clubs.
Our children will one day become our leaders. By doing what we can to help protect our children today, we are ultimately helping lay the groundwork for generations to come. We think that’s a good investment for the future.
