Walmart Truck Drivers Salute Drew Morlen
Drew rides in a Walmart truck from his school to his local Walmart store Drew’s special day began when four shiny Walmart trucks rolled up to his school and gave him a ride to his local Walmart store. While there, the Walmart drivers passed out gifts to Drew and his classmates, presented him with a Walmart truck driver shirt, and helped him into his place of honor in the cab of Justin Carter’s truck. The fun didn’t end there. Walmart drivers presented Drew, an avid rodeo fan, with cowboy gear, including an autographed poster of his favorite cowboy, Chris Shivers, and an official press pass to the 2009 national rodeo in Las Vegas. Former Arkansas Razorbacks linebacker Norman Nero – who is also a Walmart operations manager – gave Drew some very special Razorbacks gear, including an autographed football from star runningback Darren McFadden. Walmart Heart: Run entirely by volunteers Walmart truck drivers started the program in 1998 to help local kids with chronic medical conditions. Our drivers volunteer to make these patients “honorary Walmart drivers,” visiting their homes and giving them the ride of a lifetime in a Walmart truck. It’s all volunteer work, with drivers making the arrangements themselves. To date, more than 100 drivers nationwide have honored thousands of kids.
