Walmart Foundation FAQs

How can I apply for funding from the Walmart Foundation?

To be considered for funding, we ask that prospective grant recipients submit an application to one of our grant programs according to the application process for each program. Review the details about our main grant programs in order to determine whether or not you are eligible to apply and to view instructions on how to apply.

Does the Walmart Foundation provide scholarships to students for college?

The Walmart Foundation offers two scholarship programs for associates and their high school senior dependents. The Sam Walton Community Scholarship for persons not employed through Walmart is no longer accepting applications. Find out more information by going to our scholarship programs page.

I mailed a letter to the Walmart Foundation. Why didn’t I receive a response?

Due to the large number of inquiries we receive, we do not respond to requests for funding sent via paper mail to the Foundation. To submit an application, please follow the application process for the giving program that best fits your proposal.

How should current Walmart Foundation grant recipients submit IRS tax receipts?

Walmart and its Foundation are no longer accepting receipts for charitable grants in paper form. Please submit the required IRS receipt for the grant by email to charrec@wal-mart.com. The receipt must include the dollar amount of the grant as well as the statement that no goods or services were provided by your organization to Walmart in connection with the grant.
