Associate Resource Groups
The Associate Resource Groups at the Home Office were developed to help build and foster a sense of community among associates sharing similar backgrounds and interests. These groups are committed to creating a sustainable, inclusive workforce; advancing the business by leveraging the diversity of our associates; and creating opportunities so people can live better. The ARG key focus areas are business development, professional development, and heritage.
Since the groups began in 2005 at the Home Office, ARG membership has surpassed 2,500 associates. In 2008, Executive Champions joined the effort to provide additional senior level leadership. Currently, up to 35 corporate officers serve as sponsors by providing counsel and support to members.
The groups are broken down into seven ARGs. Those include: - Asian Pacific Islander (API)
- Hispanic Latino (HLARG)
- Leading and Empowering Associates with Disabilities (LEAD)
- Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender (PRIDE)
- American Indian & Alaska Native (Tribal Voices)
- African American (UNITY)
- Women (Women’s Resource Council)
ARGs help drive diversity into our business by: - Serving as focus groups and partnering with business units to ensure cultural relevance.
- Hosting workshops to help associates with personal and professional development.
- Participating in community events that support Diversity and Inclusion.
- Providing cultural heritage education support to local schools.
- Supporting recruitment efforts and assisting in on-boarding new associates.
Through their leadership in educating and celebrating diversity, the Associate Resource Groups have made Walmart an even better place to work and shop.
- Lee Scott former President and CEO Walmart
