Newly Relocated Wal-Mart Supercenter Opens in Del City

Store to debut new features; support numerous local organizations

DEL CITY, Okla., May 10, 2006 – May 17 marks the grand opening of the newly relocated Del City Wal-Mart Supercenter. The 7:30 a.m. ribbon cutting will highlight community giving including the announcement of an initial $16,000 in donations to aid area organizations. Beginning at 8 a.m., grand opening shoppers will be the first to see the full line of groceries, an expanded garden center and an expanded home entertainment and electronics department. The new store is located at 5401 Tinker Diagonal St.

A Focus on Community
The new Supercenter will provide $16,000 in community grants upon its grand opening, and grants throughout the year to neighborhood organizations. “We are committed to giving back to our community,” said Store Manager John Barnett. “Donations will be distributed to community groups including our area high school and our police and fire departments. We recognize that these organizations help so many people in our community,” added Barnett.

“We are thrilled to welcome Wal-Mart to Del City and to receive their support,” said Del City High School Principal Annette Nantois, explaining the grant from Wal-Mart will help to enhance the Del Aires vocal music program. “The Del Aires had the honor of performing at Carnegie Hall last year. In addition to helping pay for music and equipment, the grant will help make future trips to Carnegie Hall and other competitions possible. This is a great gift to our school and our kids,” added Nantois.

The Del City Police Department is another grand opening grant recipient. “It is fantastic to have Wal-Mart in the community and our officers are thrilled with the improved work environment their grant is making possible,” said John Smith of the Del City Police Department. “Their assistance will allow us to complete much needed repairs to the Del City Police Department, including purchasing new equipment and fixtures,” said Smith.
(Note: A listing of grant recipients is included on page 3 of this release.) Each Wal-Mart store has the opportunity for many organizations to receive grants upon opening day and throughout the year through Wal-Mart’s Good Works community involvement program.

Store Features
Highlights of the new store include a full line of groceries and an expanded garden center. Additionally, there is an expanded home entertainment and electronics department which will showcase well-known consumer electronics such as iPod’s and high-definition televisions. Another new feature will be two Wal-Mart.com terminals to allow customers to compare and purchase electronics from a wide selection of products available online.

The new 203,818-square foot Wal-Mart store also offers a Tire & Lube Express, a pharmacy with two drive-through lanes, a Subway restaurant, a family fun center, a portrait studio, a one-hour photo lab, beer sales, a Smart Style hair salon, a City National bank branch and a Wal-Mart Connect Center for wireless phone sales.
