Media Advisory: Walmart Expansion Brings Fresh Selections to St. Peters

Supercenter brings 150 new jobs, donates $13,000 in local grants

WHAT: St. Peters shoppers can now buy their groceries, get an oil change, fill a prescription and pick out new patio furniture all in one location. The Walmart located at 1661 Jungermann Road has expanded into a Supercenter and will celebrate with a grand opening ceremony at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 15. During the past 25 years, the St. Peters store has focused on serving the needs of the area. The new Supercenter will more than double the size of the original store, and offer customer savings on wider selection of merchandise, including a full-line of groceries and local Missouri wines. The store will also donate $13,000 in grants to local organizations in honor of the grand opening.

“We are proud to bring additional savings and good jobs to working families in our community,” said Store Manager Edward Barron. “Our customers need our unbeatable prices more now than they ever have.”

The store brings more than 150 new jobs to the area, for a planned total of more than 400 associates. “Walmart offers the chance for more than a job. You can build a career,” said Barron. Barron began his Walmart career eight years ago as an assistant manager in Arnold.

In celebration of the grand opening, the St. Peters Supercenter will present $13,000 in grants to five local organizations including St. Peter’s Police Department, Cottleville Fire Department, Disabled Athletic Sports Association, Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation of the United States and National Children’s Cancer Society.

The new Supercenter will also introduce the next generation of Walmart’s store design and customer experience to St. Peters shoppers. The new design brings shoppers wider aisles, enhanced service and a new layout designed to make the shopping experience more convenient than ever before.

WHEN: Grand Opening: Wednesday, April 15, at 7:30 a.m.
St. Peters Mayor Len Pagano is expected to attend. St. Peters Chamber of Commerce representatives Ed Weeks and Kevin Bray will join Store Manager Edward Barron and Mayor Pagano in the official ribbon-cutting. Grants will be presented to representatives of area organizations at this event.
