Walmart Neighborhood Market Brings Convenient Shopping to West Rogers

New store offers customers big savings with small grocery format

ROGERS, Ark., June 19, 2009 – Walmart will open a new Neighborhood Market in Rogers June 24. Doors to the store will open at 8 a.m., Wednesday, June 24, following a 7:30 a.m. ceremony. The store is conveniently located at 5000 Pauline Whitaker Pkwy., close to Pinnacle Promenade Shopping Center. It features a stucco façade and stained wood pergolas at the perimeter of the parking lot.

“We are proud to see Walmart contributing to the growth in this area,” said Rogers Mayor Steve Womack. “This new Neighborhood Market will bring so much to the community in terms of new jobs, increased shopping opportunities for the people who live in this part of Rogers and support for local charities.”

Fresh Foods and Familiar Brands
The 36,464-square-foot store will carry a full line of groceries, including fresh produce, frozen foods, meat and dairy products and organic items. The deli offers hot rotisserie chicken, made-to-order sandwiches and pizza by the slice. An expanded deli area offers a wide variety of meats, cheeses and freshly prepared foods including a soup bar. Customers can pick up cakes, freshly made pastries and breads in the bakery.

“This store will give local residents a quick and easy shopping option for groceries on the west side of Rogers,” said Store Manager Roy Biles. “Our customers are really going to like the convenience of our expanded deli and all the prepared foods we will offer.”

The store also features a café with wireless Internet service and Starbucks coffee. The store will be open from 5 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week.

Charitable Donations Make A Difference
Associates of the new Rogers store selected three local organizations to receive a total of $12,000 in grants from the Walmart Foundation in celebration of the grand opening. Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, Mercy Health Foundation and Bellview Elementary School will each receive $4,000 grants to support programs in the community.

“We look forward to being an active partner in the Rogers community,” said Biles. “These local organizations and others like them provide much needed services to area residents, and like all Walmart stores, our store will continue to work with them to provide support and community grants throughout the year.”

Store Provides 115 Local Jobs
The new store plans to employ approximately 115 associates. “We’re proud to bring good jobs with career opportunities to the area,” said Biles.

Grand-Opening Celebration 7:30 a.m., June 24
The store welcomes the community to attend its ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, prior to the doors opening to customers at 8 a.m. Rogers Mayor Steve Womack will make brief remarks and will help cut the ribbon to the new store.
