Walmex On Course To Open 270 Stores, Plans To Expand Banking Business
BMI Americas Food and Drink Insights November 1, 2009 The head of Mexico's largest retailer, Walmart de Mexico (Walmex), has revealed that the firm expects to open 270 stores in the current year, 18 more than previously announced. Chief Executive Eduardo Solorzano also announced the company is preparing for a major relaunch of its bank business. The investment underlines Walmart's commitment to Mexico, which despite being hit particularly hard by the global economic downturn, still holds enormous potential and continues to deliver reasonably positive results.
