The idea of transitioning to the retail industry from a career in the Army seemed far-fetched to Capt. Tracey Lloyd, who was perplexed when an executive recruiter fi rst suggested trading in her Army uniforms for Walmart’s blue and khaki threads. Lloyd had provided a list of requirements for her post-military career, and near the top of that list was her desire for a position with a strong leadership component that allowed for “home time.” She also wanted to work for a company that valued its employees and offered a fast-paced, always-changing work environment. When her corporate recruiter continued “pushing Walmart,” Lloyd was surprised. But she quickly became convinced that the world’s largest retailer would be a good fit. Read the article.
