Walmart launched its popular $4 prescription program in 2006, and to date, customers nationwide have saved more than $3.4 billion* on their medications.

Prescription Program Timeline

October 2010- Humana and Walmart announce innovative Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan with lowest national monthly premium offered in all 50 states and D.C.

September 2006 - $4 prescription program launched in the Tampa Bay, Florida, market

November 2006 - $4 prescription program rolled out to all 3,800 Walmart, Sam's Club and Neighborhood Market pharmacies nationwide in 49 states (Walmart does not operate pharmacies in ND)

September 2007 - Expanded the categories and list of medications to include two new-to-market generic medications, as well as prescription medications covering glaucoma, attention deficit disorder/attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADD/ADHD), fungal infections, acne and birth control

May 2008 - Launched 90-day prescriptions for $10, plus an additional women's health offering and $4 or less over-the-counter items

May 2009 - Announced a $10, 90-day prescription program via free mail delivery as a pilot program in Michigan

September 2009 - Expanded nationwide the $10, 90-day prescription program via free mail delivery
