Description: Walmart hosted a Global Sustainability Milestone Meeting on Oct. 14, 2010 in Bentonville, Ark., and announced new initiatives to support sustainable agriculture around the world.
Background: Since 2005, Walmart has been committed to achieving three broad sustainability goals – to be supplied 100 percent by renewable energy; to create zero waste; and to sell products that sustain people and the environment. During the milestone meeting, we will discuss a sustainability initiative we believe can be an important part of our leadership on issues that matter to our customer and our communities, and another step in building the Next Generation Walmart.
