Solar panelsAt Walmart, we believe that being a profitable and efficient business goes hand-in-hand with being a good steward of the environment. In an effort to reach Walmart’s larger goal of being supplied by 100 percent renewable energy, we are committed to finding more ways to implement and utilize renewable energy sources in our stores, clubs and distribution centers.

When it comes to energy, we’ve made good progress towards our long-term goal by using more renewable sources and becoming more efficient. For example, we are piloting a solar power project in California and Hawaii and purchasing wind energy in Texas.

Walmart purchases wind to power stores in Texas

As part of Walmart’s goal to use 100 percent renewable energy, we have announced our first substantial purchase of this clean fuel, which will provide up to 15 percent of the total energy for about 350 Texas stores and facilities.
