Organics
In the spring of 2006, Walmart began expanding its assortment of organic foods in certain stores to meet the demands of our customers. Our aim is to provide customers a one-stop shopping experience that will help them save time, money and fuel costs. By expanding our selection of organic products we are working to fulfill this goal.
Today, customers shopping in our Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets may find organic offerings that include pasta, olive oil, coffee, tea, peanut butter, bread, oranges, tomatoes, lettuce, apples, fresh herbs (thyme, sage, mint, etc.), packaged salads, baby formula, milk, cheese, sour cream, ice cream, cottage cheese, sauces and seafood. Green signage throughout our stores helps customers find these products with ease. The number of selections customers will find depends on the demand for organic offerings in that specific community. Beyond just offering organic products, we strive to offer produce that is also locally sourced. As with all fresh merchandise, we try to purchase fresh organic products from local suppliers for distribution to our stores in their areas. This is good for the surrounding communities and helps generate savings on distribution costs that we can pass on to our customers.
