Greenhouse Gas

Every company has a responsibility to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as quickly as it can. Walmart is committed to reducing our carbon footprint and we are working with our suppliers and customers to do the same.

Goals

Objectives

Walmart is actively engaged in reducing our carbon footprint. Our climate program has four inter-related components:

  1. Reduce emissions within Walmart’s direct control, including operations of our stores, clubs, distribution centers, truck fleet, cars and airplanes.
  2. Help our suppliers reduce the emissions associated with the manufacture, shipment, and use of their products.
  3. Help our customers reduce emissions by offering more energy efficient products. Offer more environmentally preferable disposal and reclamation options for those products.
  4. Be actively engaged in the public policy debate and discussions on curbing GHG emissions.

We are investing in renewable energy, increasing energy efficiency in our buildings and trucks, reducing waste from our store and club operations, working with suppliers to take carbon out of product manufacturing, packaging, transportation, and use, and supporting legislation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
