Sustainability Milestone Meeting


Walmart made available its sustainability milestone meeting on Monday, January 26, 2009. Topics at the meeting included:

  • Thoughts from Mike Duke regarding our continued commitment to sustainability.
  • New sustainability goals for Walmart's business in the Americas.
  • Best practice sharing among sustainability leaders from all areas of the company.

Participants were Mike Duke, vice chairman, Walmart International; Craig Herkert, president and CEO of the Americas region, Walmart; and Bill McDonough, co-author of Cradle to Cradle, the book challenging the “cradle to grave” manufacturing model. Lee Scott spoke at the meeting for the last time as CEO and shared his reflections on the company's sustainability journey and the leadership position that we've established.
