Walmart hosts fourth annual Sustainable Packaging Expo
Attendance and participation has grown each year, and this time more than 165 booths demonstrating packaging materials and services suppliers exhibited. Additionally, 2,200 supplier representatives, buyers and exhibitors attended the Expo to learn about the latest packaging solutions and uncovered ways to reduce their packaging while continuing to meet our customers’ needs. In conjunction with the Expo, we also hosted a number of informational sessions on topics, including the Federal Trade Commission’s Green Guidelines, biodegradability and compostability, and transportation and logistics. Presenters hailed from Proctor & Gamble, Unilever and Clorox, among many others. |

As part of Walmart’s commitment to sustainability, we’re aiming to reduce the amount of packaging in our supply chain by 5 percent by 2013. To do this, we’re working with our suppliers to help them find sustainable packaging solutions. In April 2009, we hosted our fourth annual Sustainable Packaging Expo in Rogers, Ark. and invited all of the consumer packaged goods companies that supply our stores.
