Walmart Foundation is new zoo Second Tuesday sponsor

The Walmart Foundation is the new corporate sponsor of the Oregon Zoo’s Second Tuesday reduced-admission program.

Zoo officials said last week that the foundation would sponsor the program for a year. The program offers zoo visitors $4 admission on the second Tuesday of each month. Children 2 and younger continue to be admitted free.

“During these tough economic times, the price of regular admission can sometimes be a barrier,” said zoo Director Kim Smith. “Through Walmart’s generous support, the zoo is able to offer Second Tuesdays — a critical program that helps us convey our important conservation messages to a wider and more diverse audience.”

“We know the economy continues to impact family time decisions, so we wanted to offer visitors an affordable option for one of the city’s most exciting venues,” said Steven Restivo, director of community affairs for Walmart Stores. Read full article
