Orlando's Newest Wal-Mart Supercenter Caters to Locals and Tourists Alike![]() Theme Park Tickets and Drive-Thru Garden Center Highlight New Features ORLANDO, Fla., June 6, 2007 – The new Wal-Mart Supercenter opening Wednesday, June 13, in Orlando has a look that sets it apart from others in the area with its Tuscan style; it also offers new services local residents and tourists will find convenient and valuable including discounted tickets to area theme parks and automotive service for recreational vehicles. The new store, which is located at 8990 Turkey Lake Road, will welcome shoppers with a celebratory grand opening ceremony at 7 a.m., after which customers can begin to shop the large selection of merchandise, services and groceries. From Theme Park Tickets and TVs to Baked Goods and Banking Wal-Mart’s one-stop shopping includes more selection and services at the new 207,489-square-foot Orlando Supercenter. Inside, customers will find an interior design that enhances the shopping experience including wider aisles, lowered shelves and new signage that helps with store navigation. The store also utilizes an energy-efficient lighting system using skylights that eliminate indoor lighting on sunny days. “Orlando is fortunate to be a town where tourism thrives,” said Store Manager Debbie Martin. “Our store will feature many services and products that cater to local residents and tourists taking advantage of local attractions.” Martin is referring to items including a Disney Shop with a large variety of Disney merchandise, an international food aisle with a large selection of British food products catering to tourists and a kiosk offering discounted tickets to area theme parks and attractions. The store will also feature large selections of Hispanic foods and products, bakery goods and fresh produce as well as expanded selections of Latino music and movies in the electronics and home entertainment department. The Supercenter’s general merchandise areas include a wide range of infant apparel and products, toys, fine jewelry, an expanded lawn and garden center with drive-through accessibility and a large health and beauty section. The store also offers beer and wine, expanded selections of organic foods, fresh produce, baked goods, a delicatessen, a frozen food section and meat and dairy sections. For added convenience, the store also has a Tire & Lube Express which will service recreational vehicles, a vision center, a pharmacy, a one-hour photo lab, a Wal-Mart Money Center and Wal-Mart Connect Center for wireless phone sales. Customers can also shop the large home entertainment and electronics department, showcasing popular consumer electronics such as digital media players, DVD players, and high-definition and plasma televisions. Additional leased space and services include a DaVi Nails Salon, a SmartStyle Family Hair Salon, a McDonald’s restaurant and a branch of SunTrust National Bank. The store will be open to customers 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 450 Associates to Serve Customers The new Wal-Mart Supercenter will employ approximately 450 associates. According to Martin, more than 1,500 applications have already been received. Orlando’s newest Wal-Mart Supercenter is joining other stores in the area in impacting the community by giving back with an initial $29,500 in charitable donations to community groups at the 7 a.m., grand opening ceremony including a $10,000 donation to Orange County Public Schools Southwest Learning Community.
