Walmart growing, going green

Discount retailer Walmart has launched a new marketing campaign to tout its earth-friendly efforts, according to a regional executive who recently visited Vancouver. The company operates three stores in Clark County.

The world's largest retailer wants to continue its growth in Southwest Washington, says a Walmart executive who visited Vancouver last week.

The Bentonville, Ark.-based Walmart also wants local shoppers to know about the company's newly launched efforts to be eco-friendly, said Bill Wertz, division director of community and media relations based in Denver. He acknowledged that some consumers might be skeptical of Walmart, which is among several large companies marketing to Earth-conscious consumers these days. Read more.
