Walmart Honors Ethical Courage By AssociatesBENTONVILLE, Ark. (July 20, 2009) --- Today, Walmart announced that five associates received the company’s fourth annual “Award for Ethical Courage.” The Walmart Global Ethics Office presents the award to recognize extraordinary ethical courage and integrity in the workplace. The five associates from Brazil, China, Mexico and the United States traveled to Bentonville to receive the award from Mike Duke, chief executive officer, at the company’s Saturday morning meeting on July 18. The Global Ethics Office selected this year’s award recipients from more than 2,200 nominations. “At Walmart, we strive to meet the highest standards every day, but these associates went above and beyond,” said Cindy Moehring, chief ethics officer. “They demonstrated extraordinary courage by doing the right thing when faced with a difficult dilemma and consistently led with integrity.” The Global Ethics Office was established in 2004 to communicate Walmart’s ethical standards to those doing business with the company and to provide guidance to associates in making ethical decisions.
