Walmart Foundation Donates $325,000 to 10 Nevada CharitiesWalmart Foundation’s State Giving Program Gives Back to the Communities it Serves RENO, Nevada, August 17, 2009 – The Walmart Foundation has announced the 10 organizations that have received the first round of grants in the State Giving Program, totaling $325,000. This program addresses unmet needs throughout Nevada communities through quarterly grants. The Walmart Foundation has a history of supporting the communities it serves. "We are proud to be able to support these worthy organizations and recognize their considerable contributions to our communities," said Aaron Rios, Senior Manager for Public Affairs and Government Relations for Walmart in Nevada. "The Nevada State Giving Program is a way to focus our contributions and make them count." The State Giving Advisory Council in Nevada accepted grant applications from organizations that currently operate under the tax-exempt status Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
