'Shop with a Cop' for kids returning in December

The annual "Shop with a Cop" event will be Dec. 9 at the Oroville Wal-Mart, with organizers hoping to take 102 children from 17 Oroville-area schools on a shopping spree.

This is a partnership between local schools, the Oroville Wal-Mart and the Oroville Police Officers' Association, funded with donations from community members and police officers and staff.

Participating schools have been invited to nominate six students with positive academic progress, and most cases are economically disadvantaged. Read on.
