H. Lee Scott, Jr. President and Chief Executive Officer

Lee Scott is president and CEO of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., the world’s largest retailer, with more than 1.9 million associates and 7,000 retail operations in 14 markets across the globe. The company had sales of more than $374 billion in 2007.

Lee joined Wal-Mart in 1979 as an assistant director in the Logistics division, rising through the ranks to executive vice president of Logistics in 1993 and executive vice president of Merchandise in 1995. He became president and chief executive officer of the Wal-Mart Stores U. S. division in 1998, chief operating officer and vice chairman for the corporation in 1999, and president and CEO in 2000.

Under Lee's leadership, Wal-Mart has continued to grow and enhance its business formats and merchandise selections at Wal-Mart discount stores, Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets, along with Sam’s Clubs, Wal-Mart International and Walmart.com.

In addition to operational improvements, Lee is recognized for people development, including the launch of the company’s diversity office in 2003. In October 2005, he initiated an bold corporate environmental sustainability initiative, leveraging Wal-Mart’s global reach in three key areas: renewable energy, zero waste and sustainable products. This year, he expanded the company’s leadership to helping customers and suppliers become more energy efficient and moving the retail industry toward more ethical and environmentally responsible product sourcing.

Under Lee’s direction, the company has also taken the lead in addressing the U.S. health care crisis. Wal-Mart introduced $4 generic prescription drugs and in-store health clinics, and partnered with other employers and opinion leaders to call for major health care reform. He has also led the charge to ensure that more Wal-Mart associates have health care coverage. As a result, over 92 percent of associates have health care coverage today.

Lee also serves on the board of directors of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., and the United Negro College Fund.

A native of Baxter Springs, Kansas, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Pittsburg State in Pittsburg, Kansas. He has also completed the executive development programs at Penn State University and Columbia University. He and his wife, Linda, live in Rogers, Arkansas.

Michael T. Duke Vice Chairman, International Division, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.

Mike Duke currently serves as vice chairman, International Division. Duke joined Wal-Mart in 1995. He has served as president and CEO of Wal-Mart Stores Division (USA), executive vice president of administration, executive vice president of logistics, senior vice president of logistics, and senior vice president of distribution. Duke has full operating responsibilities for all of the company’s international operations, including Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Japan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, and the United Kingdom.

Prior to joining the company, Duke had 23 years’ experience in retailing with Federated Department Stores and May Department Stores. He serves on the Board of Directors of the US-China Business Council as well as CIES-The Food Business Forum, and is on the Executive Board of Conservation International’s Center for Environmental Leadership in Business. Duke also serves on the University of Arkansas Board of Advisors.

Ed Chan President & CEO, Wal-Mart China

Ed Chan joined Wal-Mart China in November 2006 as President and CEO. He is responsible for the company’s China retail operation, which also includes a 35% stake in Trust-Mart. Before joining Wal-Mart, Chan was Regional Director North Asia of the Dairy Farm Group and a Director of Dairy Farm Management Services Limited. He was responsible for the Group’s retail businesses in China’s mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea. He was in that position since November 2001. Prior to that, he was the Chief Executive Officer of the Group’s Wellcome Supermarket Division in Taiwan.

Prior to Dairy Farm, Chan worked for Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG), a unit of Bertelsmann AG, starting in 1989 as corporate development manager based in New York. He was later named Managing Director of BMG Taiwan and was subsequently promoted to Managing Director of BMG Hong Kong and China. Chan began his professional career as an analyst with McKinsey & Company in San Francisco and Hong Kong for two years.
